Ethiopia lifts State of Emergency

The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) during its Extraordinary Session on Friday lifted the State of Emergency that was enforced 10 months ago.

The House made the decision after hearing a report presented to it by the Command Post that was set up to implement the State of Emergency.

Secretariat of the Command Post and Minister of National Defense, Siraj Fegessa told the MPs that peace has now been restored throughout the country.

There might still be minor problems in few parts of the country but these could not be beyond the control of the local authorities, Siraj said.
